Professor Emeritus Cedric Gillott (appointment 1965, Department of Biology; retirement, 1999). Cedric is an entomologist known nationally and internationally for his research in the areas of insect mating and reproduction, insect maturation, and plant-insect/parasitoid interactions. The third edition of his textbook, Entomology, was published in 2005, six years after his retirement.
In 2007, the Entomological Society of Canada awarded him its Gold Medal for Outstanding Achievement in Canadian Entomology. A prolific writer, Cedric continues his research publication. His supervision of graduate students has also continued beyond his retirement. Always active on many fronts, Cedric served as assistant department head for three terms and coached the men's Huskie soccer team for many years. Since retirement, he has won the gold medal for his cider entry in a North American home brewing competition (2007)!
