Eileen Harvey graduated from the Nursing program at our University and worked as a nurse in California as her husband Bryan studied for his PhD at UC Davis. Back in Saskatchewan, she went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics and taught as Lab Instructor and was Administrative Assistant in the College of Home Economics for many years. Following the closure of the College, Eileen served as Coordinator of the Women’s Research Unit. She worked in Women’s Studies in the Extension Division, where she organized a highly successful provincial conference.

She went on to administrative positions with the University Studies Group, the College of Law, and the Provost’s Office, supporting Faculty Council committees on Academic Affairs and the Coordinating Committee of Council for a number of years. At a special USRA event held for Eileen and her husband Bryan in February 2025, President Peter Stoicheff recalled the lasting impact Eileen had on him, as a Dean at the time, facilitating the often-intricate workings of University Council. She finished her career at USask as committed Executive Assistant to President Peter McKinnon.

Eileen has been an active member of the USRA executive and a faithful attendee and participant at USRA events. As Chair of the Awards Committee for many years, she was instrumental in sorting out the definitions and processes that we use today for the USRA awards. She served on the Local Organizing Committee for USRA’s first College and University Retirees Association (CURAC/ARUCC) national conference, chairing the Catering and Accommodation committees. For our most recent USRA/CURAC conference, Eileen did a superb job of generating the extensive Conference program, using her excellent design and computer skills. She has been called upon over the years to produce many Awards programs and other documents for the USRA and CURAC.

We will miss Eileen and wish her and Bryan all the best in their new home in Ottawa. Thank you, Eileen!
